Privacy Policy

Shop Local Save Land (SLSL) is a print and online initiative connecting consumers to local farm and forest products and educational information in order to support working lands and protect scenic rural character, cultural heritage and quality of life.

SLSL is a joint venture of Heron’s Eye Communications and WDesign, supported by partnerships among land trusts; community, conservation and non-profit organizations; government agencies; like-minded individuals, businesses and foundations.

Copyright

All SLSL website content is copyrighted, and may contain third party text, photographs, graphics, audio and video used with permission. Reproduction of SLSL website content is prohibited without written permission from the copyright holder. Unauthorized use of this copyrighted material may violate privacy and copyright laws.

Personal Information

Generally, visitors to the SLSL website may access and navigate through its web pages without submitting personal contact information such as name and email address. Visitors who choose to join the SLSL community by becoming a Provider or Partner must complete online forms that require submission of contact information (such as name and email address) and creation of a username and password. Submission of additional personal information associated with a Provider’s or Partner’s online profile is optional. Please note that only some of the personal contact information associated with a Provider’s or Partner’s online profile will be visible to site visitors; other information will be maintained for SLSL’s administrative use only.

In order to streamline content and enhance usability, the SLSL website uses both “temporary” and “persistent” cookies and automatically collects certain information from visitors, including: 

• IP address of a visitor's ISP and/or computer
• Domain Name of a visitor's ISP and/or computer
• Browser Type and Operating System
• Date & Time of visitor access
• Web pages accessed at SLSL and any applications or forms used or accessed
• URL of the site from which a visitor navigated to SLSL

This information is not used for commercial purposes. It is used only to enhance SLSL services and site performance, and to ensure technological compatibility.

Security

SLSL utilizes industry standard or better security measures and systems, which have been integrated into the SLSL website’s design, implementation, day-to-day operation, and its underlying servers and networks.

All personal contact information, usernames and passwords are stored in a secure environment. SLSL does not rent or sell Provider or Partner personal contact information or trade such information with third parties without explicit permission.
 

Online Payments

SLSL website visitors may purchase a Provider membership or SLSL merchandise through the Shop and Join Us pages, and in doing so will be required to transmit personal contact information and credit card information in order to complete the transaction. Credit card number information is transmitted in an encrypted format using industry-standard SSL encryption.

Disputed credit card charges are subject to additional fees. Questions may be submitted to merchant@shoplocalsaveland.com.

Provider memberships have a 1-year expiration, at which time renewal is optional. Partner associations must be negotiated directly with SLSL by emailing info@shoplocalsaveland.com. All Partner and Provider fees are non-refundable.

To discontinue a Provider or Partner association with SLSL, please email info@shoplocalsaveland.com.
