A rich warm voice, moving lyrics and a keen sense of farm living make Tim Grimm’s 2009 release, “Farm Songs” a real pleasure for fans of rural living. As Tim notes on the jacket: “It was not so long ago that the family farm was a pillar of a way of life and represented to many a romantic view of nature, love, family and hard work that often reaped immeasurable rewards. Simplicity was a key component of this way of life, as was a need to be a jack of all trades and a wearer of many hats.”

Tim’s grandfather farmed in Indiana and after a stint in Los Angeles, Tim and his wife returned to southern Indiana to buy an old farm where they raised their boys. Lovers of the rural life will recognize the sentiment expressed in these lines from the lovely tune, “Back Fields.”

“The boys ran out to the back fields

They didn’t mind the rain

They were chasin’ wild turkeys into the woods

And runnin’ back again

And their faces red with laughter

And their hair all wild and blown

This is why we left the city

This is why we make these fields our home.”
